No need to be scared, the guide is just too detailed and covers many
different setups (different TV/graphics cards, PAL/NTSC etc.). It even
explains every step in great detail. So you only really need to read
it once in fats mode and then return to the interesting spots.

But it really boils down to apt-get/yum install mythtv-suite for the
application layer.
apt-get/yum install <driver>-kmdl-`uname -r` <driver>
for the chosen driver part (ivtv, bttv, saa7134, cx88). For some of
these drivers you will need the ATrpms kernel (which includes v4l2).

And finally you will also need lirc/alsa/nvidia etc., all available as
rpms. Only ATI drivers have not been packaged yet (sorry, no card).
