SB Audigy and modem

I have had heaps of trouble with SB Audigy and Alsa but one thing that 
seems to have a major impact with my system is the "Adigy Analog/Digital 
Output Jack" in the mixer ( I use Gnome-Alsamixer in KDE ) uncheck the 
box check volumes and I'm away (with the faries sometimes) :-))
