Mine is a PSC-2110,check you have the hpijs and hpoj rpm's installed 
you'll find them via yum/apt or the install disks.
Then for KDE printing there is a setup at K > System Settings > Printing
Then for scanning it should be 'ptal-init setup' on the command line.
