Thanks, that did the trick.

For the archives, here's what I did:

[root at dude robin]# ls -l MySQL*
-rw-rw-r--  1 robin robin  2722359 Aug  4 23:11
MySQL-client-4.0.20-0.i386.rpm
-rw-rw-r--  1 robin robin 10286838 Aug  4 23:11
MySQL-server-4.0.20-0.i386.rpm
-rw-rw-r--  1 robin robin   491258 Aug  5 10:18
MySQL-shared-compat-4.0.20-0.i386.rpm

[root at dude robin]# rpm -Uvh MySQL*

[root at dude robin]# apt-get install php-mysql
