mouse problem

Yes, but what sort of connection does it use? Serial? USB? PS/2?

Well, that is a known problem when installing with a serial mouse.

Can you post the part of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file that looks like
this?

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier  "Mouse0"
        Driver      "mouse"
        Option      "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
        Option      "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
        Option      "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
        Option      "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"

It might also help to know what sort of motherboard you use, and if your
mouse is USB, whether you have any add-in USB cards or hubs.
