Trouble installing FC2 on Compac 1120nx w/ 845 chipset

When I try to install FC2 (or debian) it starts to boot and goes black
usually restarting the computer. The only thing linux I can get to boot on
this thing is knoppix 3.3 even knoppix 3.4 goes black. I assume it is the
845 integrated graphics but I am not sure. I have tried every boot param
that made sense but no luck.

Does anyone know how to overcome this??
