I find that if I set up a rule to move all emails for the list to a
certain folder as they arrive, I can then view the folder ordered by
subject; it is then easy to delete all emails on a certain topic
manually without bothering to set up a filter.  Also, if I want to
ignore the list because I'm busy, I can.

Just my 1p worth.
