nautilus components missing

Sounds like FC2 ?  You clicked on "user's home" ?

Go through the main menu and run "Browse Filesystem".  That should run 
Nautilus in normal [old style] mode.

You can run the gconf editor and rig Nautilus to always run in full mode.
