Remote Desktops

Hi all,

I like to use 'remote desktop' aka VNC for doing all of my
work remotely but I have a big problem.  It seems that alot
of my superuser required gui's such as up2date, synaptic which
pops up the su-login dialog box and password is entered but
after that, nothing.  I seems to be forced to run su-required
guis on the console only which they work.

Any pointers?
