pop3/imap server - possibly stupid question

Mostly postfix will not deliver mail to root because the deamons run as user 
posfix  who can not write to roots mail spool file as he can not get the 
correct permissions  by default though roots mail is aliased to the user 
postfix.  it is all done from a security aspect
