And has "Finaly [sic] got it working just now after installing [from
ALSA source tarballs]" in the middle?

Can anyone tell me why it doesn't work out of the box?  Can anyone
tell me why FC2 has sndconfig removed if system-config-sound doesn't
support ISA cards?
