FC 2 won't shutdown or reboot

People are treating your reboot problem but I syspect the reasoon you
are npot geting anything on your panel is that the .gnome* files for
RH 9 are incompatible with FC2. So erasing all the .gnome* files and
directories and then restarting the Window manager with a ctl-bkspace
should fix that, If theire is still trouble with the panel create a
new temporary user and see if the panel is ok for that user.

INow you are saying even from a console typing reboot or halt has no
effect? That is really strange? How about ctl-alt-del from the
console?

The problen is really the upgrade from RH 9 to FC2. You would have
gotten better results if you had saves what you wanted to save on a CD
or other location and install FC2 from scratch.
