Cannot connect to pop server

Scott,

the problem is broken router hardware on the server side which does not
work with TCP window scaling. So the problem is solved though Bart did
not give a positive feedback yet.

Set

echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_window_scaling

and you will see that the contact to the POP3 server will immediately
do.
