1. Which previous version? Is it still installed? If not, do you still
have the CDs and can you get as far as the media check, using them?
2. Can you read the 1st CD with ANYthing? You should be able to get a
directory even in Windows. This is the root level of the 1st CD of FC2
(From an MSDOS window in Win98):

3. In your original post, you said that you *purchased* FC2. Would it be
convenient/possible to have the party who sold it to you prove that the
CDs (or DVD) are good? Do you have or can you borrow another CD drive?
4. Have you tried booting with "linux noprobe" (w/o the quotes)? This
would get you into the mediacheck routine more quickly. Just being able
to determine whether or not the CD and CD drive will work together would
be a giant step.
5. We are communicating via a "hijacked" thread hat was started 'way
back in March and with a decidedly non-informational subject. If you
don't have a breakthrough, why don't you start a new thread with a
subject that is likely to interest more people.
