NO scsi hard drives found

Dear all 

I have Adaptec HostRaid Scsi Ultra 320 Controller only one drive is attached . i can see it is detected ok 
Fedora Core 2 take too long on loading aic79xx driver and then after proceeding when i select manual partition through disk druid its says /dev/sda No such device or address . this drive is new Seagate Ultra 320 37 GB .

what could be the cause of this problem ?
