Please be more verbose. In your initial posting about this problem it
was visible that you was logged in as root. So the copying of the
skeleton .bashrc did fix it for root? You too had the problem with a
missing PS1 set as a normal user?

ls -al /home/aabento/.bashrc
cat /home/aabento/.bashrc
ls -al /etc/bashrc

Please post the output of the 3 commands.
