Soundcard configuration lost following a reboot

I've un-muted the CD channel in alsamixer but didn't seem to have any
effect.

I don't often play CDs directly so its not a big issue - just a nagging
annoyance that it worked under RH9 and has only stopped working
following the upgrade.
