wireless crash

i have fc2 on a dell laptop w/ a d-link wireless pccard. i installed the
pccard using ndiswrapper. card is detected; even the router (linksys).

so i did:
ifconfig wlan0 up
but i cann't access the net!
if i do:
iwconfig wlan0 essid linksys
the system crashes so i have to hold the power down.
is this caused by the fact that fedora is on 4k stack? i will try to get
a bigger stack kernel and see how it works.
