Mark,
As root edit the file named /usr/share/hal/fdi/90defaultpolicy/storage-
policy.fdi
Locate the line that says <merge
key="storage.policy.default.mount_option.noauto"
type="bool">true</merge>
Change the true to false.
Then reboot.
See if that helps.
