man grub-install
/sbin/grub-install
You can have grub installed in a few seconds.

This is actually a software raid issue. The current software raid
implementation mirrors partitions, not disks. The MBR is not a
partition so you're dead before you start. What many people are
actually looking for is a disk mirroring solution, not a partition
mirroring solution. They both have advantages and disadvantages, and
the boot block is the biggest disadvantage to the Linux approach.
