Hmmm.....

I forgot about that.  I'll have to try that before starting X again,
and see if that does the trick.
My setup gets loaded and the graphics appear on the screen to start
the login; only the whole system is FROZEN by then.
I'm running an ATI Radeon VIVO 64MB card.
