Xsane as a normal user....

How does one get around UDEV (and it's creating devices and setting
permissions for you) and get Xsane to run as an ordinary user.....
Or is it UDEV at all -perhaps SELinux?

It used to be you could change the permissions and they would stay....

Now, every time you reboot, the device rebuilds, sets permissions and
only root can find the device.....and I need a person who shouldnt have
root access to use the scanner...

I tried suid, a shell wrapper with suid and I cant seem to get around
this....

Advice appreciated
