Lotus Sametime equivalent?

I know, I was just clarifying that the forementioned project was a client 
library or client implementation.

Afaik, there's no alternative project implementing a Sametime server on 
Linux. Your best bet is probably to look at the meanwhile library (and the 
documentation for the protocol) and look at communities around that, if 
any.
