KDE and GNOME

Two ways:
Temporary: You can select the desktop from GDM (login screen) under
the "Session" option (I think that's what it is called).  This only
lasts for that login.

Permanent: Run "switchdesk kde" or "switchdesk gnome" in a terminal. 
That should set the default GUI.

There's probably a manual way by editing some file, but the switchdesk
should work just fine.
