ejecting cdrom/dvd

Im not using scsi emulation when I boot. Basically I am using default FC3 settings.

I cannot eject certain kinds of cds as a regular user. Please note that as root I am able to use eject in order to open up either my cdrom or dvd drive. However as a normal user I cannot do this. It seems to be related to "enhanced cds," but I cannot limit the problem to that type alone simply because I haven't tested other possibilities.

So I put the cd in as a regular user. Then my LOTR "enhanced cd" causes a little window to pop up and ask me if I want to mount the drive or play the drive since it contains more than one type of file (music and other media, I suppose).

Actually choosing play or cancel seems best. It appears that I cannot mount the cd. I get the following error:
/dev/hdc: Input/output error
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
/dev/hdc: Input/output error
mount: /dev/hdc: can't read superblock

Now eject -v /dev/hdd gives me the following output:
eject: device name is `/dev/hdd'
eject: expanded name is `/dev/hdd'
eject: `/dev/hdd' is not mounted
eject: `/dev/hdd' is not a mount point
eject: `/dev/hdd' is a multipartition device
eject: trying to eject `/dev/hdd' using CD-ROM eject command
eject: CD-ROM eject command failed
eject: trying to eject `/dev/hdd' using SCSI commands
eject: SCSI eject failed
eject: trying to eject `/dev/hdd' using floppy eject command
eject: floppy eject command failed
eject: trying to eject `/dev/hdd' using tape offline command
eject: tape offline command failed
eject: unable to eject, last error: Invalid argument

Again I can use eject as root user to open up the dvd drive. Otherwise I have to reboot to get my cd out :-(

Interestingly enough, using eject as root gives me:
eject: device name is `/dev/hdd'
eject: expanded name is `/dev/hdd'
eject: `/dev/hdd' is not mounted
eject: `/dev/hdd' is not a mount point
eject: `/dev/hdd' is a multipartition device
eject: trying to eject `/dev/hdd' using CD-ROM eject command
eject: CD-ROM eject command failed
eject: trying to eject `/dev/hdd' using SCSI commands
eject: SCSI eject failed
eject: trying to eject `/dev/hdd' using floppy eject command
eject: floppy eject command failed
eject: trying to eject `/dev/hdd' using tape offline command
eject: tape offline command failed
eject: unable to eject, last error: Invalid argument
...but I CAN eject the cd.

So I find all of this rather weird.
