debug versions of libraries

Hi Dave,

Thanks! I had overlooked the sub-directory(s). Would you (or any
one else) have any pointers to how the /usr/lib/debug tree is meant
to be used? (I understand gdb explicitly looks there, what about
other tools and debuggers?)
