Tar and Move entire system to new hardware

Whenever I've done this in the past I simply put
the new hard drive into the old computer, partion it
the way I want, crate the filesystems and one at a 
time transfer the filesystems to there new place using
cpio in passthrough mode. I've never had a problem
doing this. Goes something like this...

find /opt_filesystem | cpio --passthrough /new_filesystem

you may have to fool with that commandline a bit, it's been
over a year since I've done it, but it works...
