Which means it is equivalent for AMD CPUs and Intel CPUs with no
HyperThreading :).  Actually, Dave, you should know that your computer
*was* shutting down, it was just not turning off.  From there you
could turn off the power without causing any harm.  This is a known
bug and only affects some computers and is a problem with the 2.6.9
kernels, and not specifically FC.  If you use ACPI (for example, if
this is a laptop), you might want to just deal with the problem.  If
you see no ill effects, go ahead and use "acpi=off" since there is no
advantage, as you said, to using acpi=ht with an AMD CPU.
