modem & soundcard detection

I have a ASUS P4PE motherboard with onboard sound production via an 'ADI 
AD1980 AC '97 audio CODEC', and an intel 536EP modem in PCI slot 2.  
After installing Fedora Core 1,  I found that neither the soundcard nor 
modem were detected.  I used the system tools to try and detect the 
modem, but no luck.  Both devices work correctly under WIN2k.  Has 
anyone got some suggestions to get these devices working?  TIA
