This will not remove your compiled applications, it will only remove 
up2date, then when you re-install it, the proper config files will be in 
place.

You won't be able to associate your fedora installation with a channel 
on RedHat's web site.  The channels are only for RedHat 9 / RedHat ES 
systems, and in April, RedHat 9 will be discontinued.
