modem & soundcard detection

 If the modem a win-modem that is designed only to
work with windows? If it is then you could pick up
a external modem 56K from ebay real cheap that plugs
into the serial com ports of your computer. If you
don't have com ports you will need to buy a internal
modem that is hardware supported and not windows
software supported.

 The same software problem can also occur with the
sound card. You will have to research the item and see
what the problem is.
