Realplayer 9 and crashes

I'm trying to get realplayer 9 to work.  My kernel is
kernel-2.4.22-1.2149.nptl.  When I try to execute it from a terminal a
gui flashes briefly and then the error message: Floating point exception
appears.
I've tried these versions:
$ env LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.22 realplayer
as well as =2.2.5, =2.4.19
as well as
$ realplayer

Is there anyway to make this work?
