Personal Desktop -> Workstation

Hi,
I have a Personal Desktop install of FC1.

I'm trying to compile giFT, and don't have the necessary compilers, etc.
I've installed gcc, but still can't compile it.
(I've posted to the gift-users list.)

Is there an automatic or easy way to either move to a Workstation install or 
install everything I need to do some compiling?
