Serial mouse problem in kernel 2.6.2

Hi,
I successfully compiled and installed kernel 2.6.2, but the kernel does 
not detect the mouse correctly. Instead of A4Tech 4D+ mouse it detects a 
generic PS/2 mouse. The A4Tech mouse is PS/2, but I have it connected to 
the serial port. I cannot start the X server because of this. I did not 
have this problem in kernel 2.4.22. Does anyone know how to solve my 
problem?
