Regardless of anything you get on CD, there will be patches and updates and 
newer versions so you will /always/ have to download packages. Besides, 
remember that the more things they include, the more they have to test... 
and so the lower the amount of testing they can give each package, probably 
resulting in a reduction of quality control. More is usually NOT better in 
this case.
