up2date: Using Fedora FTP Mirror Sites?

I recently tried to configure up2date to use an official Fedora Mirror
Site, "ftp://ftp.telus.net/pub/fedora/linux/core/". It didn't seem to
work. I was using, "rhn-applet-2.1.4" at the time. Prior to this I had
no problem using the default Fedora site for updates.

On a recent fedora-list item I saw that "rhn-applet-2.1.7", might be
able to support this type of mirror site. I installed the rpm for
rhn-applet-2.1.7 and configured the "sources" file for the above
mentioned mirror site.

sources:
yum fedora-core-1 ftp://telus.net/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os
yum updates-released ftp://telus.net/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/1/i386
#yum updates-testing
ftp://telus.net/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/testing/1/i386

After launching the up2date GUI, a "Progress Dialog:" box eventually
shows up with a message of, "Fetching
ftp://telus.net/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/headers/header.info".
Nothing happens after this.

I can manually download what I need from the mirror site in question
with no problems.

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
