installing modules

hi!
i am new to this group and i guess i am gonna get a solution around here.

whenever i try to enable a module in the kernel using "make modules" i get a 
dummy.o error. if i disable dummy support then i get some other error 
because of some other module that is enabled.i didn't get such errors with 
redhat8.0
i am on a intel810 motherboard pentium3  processor.

please help
