Hmm I'd be very surprised if Nautilus worked that way and hogged the
device as soon as a burn:/// window is open. Maybe you could tell us
more details, like how you run cdrecord, what's in /proc/scsi/scsi and
so on. You might as well strace the cdrecord process and look where it
gets stuck.
