Personally I set mine to
HorizSync 1.5 - 250.0
VertRefresh 10.0 - 150.0
This is on a 1600x1200 laptop LCD panel. I seriously doubt any harm will come
to your LCD panel whatever numbers you stick in here.
What does your screen section say? You don't want the same, but for example
mine has this:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1600x1200" <-- you can add other modes here in
their own doublequotes
EndSubSection
EndSection
You can also use KDE's cool krandrtray applet to select between listed modes
at runtime without restarting X.
