Fresh FC1 installation (tried 2 times).. first boot.. hangs at 'firstboot' :(

i dont know what this is, but this is what i did. i took the option of not
installing with grub. so when it started reboot, i inserted FC1 and typed
rescue mode. then i installed the lilo rpm and from there lilo. next i wrote a
lilo.conf file and rebooted. i believe it worked with lilo (smoothly) after
that.

i must mention that there are people on this list who have successfully used
grub with RAID. I have never been able to do this, despite following their
precise instructions.
