CD Burning and Ripping

People that may be able to help will probably want at least the 
following information:

What does 'dmesg' have to say about your cdrom during boot?
Where does /dev/cdrom link to?
Do any messages show up in dmesg or /var/log/messages while sound-juicer 
is trying to do it's thing?
