Sendmail still will not read config files

Could it be that sendmail is running chroot, or for some other reason looking
for those files elsewhere, perhaps via symlink? If people can come and
change the symlink that's obviously as objectionable as being able to change
the pointed-to file security-wise. locate trusted-users would tell you if
that was the case. I use postfix which IIRC has some similar kind of setup.
