K, I believe you. Are the permissions correct?
[14:37:42][work]$ ls -al /dev/fb0
/home/nead/work
crw------- 1 luser root 29, 0 Sep 15 09:40 /dev/fb0
[14:37:48][work]$ ls -al /dev/fb1
/home/nead/work
crw------- 1 luser root 29, 1 Sep 15 09:40 /dev/fb1
If you are logged on at the console and your fb works,
I don't think you can open it again.
