debian and co have been at it for a while. The processes for managing 
user contributions to fedora (whether patches or software) haven't 
(visibly) make any progress yet. It seems a big ask to have them working 
smoothly by the time the support for RH9 runs out. If they do, great.

The ideal as I see it would be an independent, user-supported 
distribution that is supported by third-party software providers (RedHat 
etc).
