sound with docking station

hey folks,

I have a Dell Latitude d600 running FC1
(2.4.22-1-.2135).

When I dock the laptop:
-sound works fine with the laptop speakers
-if I plug external speakers into the laptop's
headphone jack, the laptop speakers disable and the
external speakers work (which is how it should be)
-if I plug external speakers into the docking
station's (d/port) headphone jack, the laptop speakers
disable but the external speakers DON'T work (once I
unplug, laptop speakers work again)

Any idea how can I get the external speakers working
via the docking station's headphone jack???

This works fine when I boot into W2K (the docking
station's not broken).

Any suggestions/help would be very much appreciated.
