As others have sugested try using the network setup tool
first.   "lspci | grep -i ether" will give you enough
info about the hardware to do a productive Google.

Having a second network card in a single box can complicate things for you.
At some point when the second card wakes up you have two lines and have
to instruct the system which to use and for what.

If the graphical tools do not get things running, you may need to
inspect and perhaps edit /etc/sysconfig/network and the files in the
directory /etc/sysconfig/networking.   

It is good to inspect these files on a healthy machine.  Having seen a
working setup can be a big help in fixing a busted setup.  So even if
the GUI tools work for you give the configuration files a look (pg,
more, less, view).
