How to turn off the power of hard drive?

Hi all,

I am using Fedora 1 with kernel-2.4.22-1.2149.nptl and use it as
desktop. I always leave my computer on when I am away. I would like to
know how to turn off the power of hard drive but *** not sleep mode ***
after a period of time such as the things just like Windows power
management?
