Help with shutdown and sound

Hello, I've problem with shotdown. When I write to terminal halt, 
computer doesn't halt at all - it flushes disks, bat that's all. When I 
in Gnome click to shutdown (in menu, where U can llogout, shut down the 
computer or restrt it) it soppes comletly (I mean no fan is going,...), 
I can't fid out, where's the problem.

And the scond problem is with sound. Using the newest kernell, drivers 
for my VIA AC97 compatibe souncard, when the computer is running longer, 
when I try to play a sound i some strenge noise... (just wehn i tried to 
play a music...) I tried to remone kernell modules and try to load them 
again, but it didn't help...
