What mailers are you thinking of?

# less evolution/local/Contacts/addressbook.db
"evolution/local/Contacts/addressbook.db" may be a binary file.  See it
anyway?

Type yes and scroll down a bit...

I don't know any mailer, whose addressbook is not readable.
