errors after lock up

I was burning a CD with K3b and the FC2 locked up, I couldn't do
anything with it.  The hard drive light was on but I held my breath and
hit the reset button.  That of course gave me so many hard drive errors
it wouldn't boot.  I repaired it with fsck but have some program
problems, will using the upgrade fix the damage?  Or do I need to remove
and replace programs?
